1964 Schwinn Sting-Ray & Deluxe

Deluxe Sky Blue 64 Sting Ray
The Schwinn Sting Ray swept the country by storm after it's introduction last year. The startling new design plus the unbelievable maneuverability made the Sting Ray an instant success. Now there are two more models, the Deluxe Sting Ray ($56.95 retail) and the Fair Lady ($49.95 retail), a new concept in ladies bicycles.
The Deluxe Sting Ray, also known as the J-39 which was the model number, had a Deluxe Solo Polo seat which was extra soft, nylon whitewall tires with a studded rear for high traction, extra large rear reflector, buttefly handlebars, and came in 5 colors - Flamboyant Lime or Red, Radiant Coppertone, Sky Blue and Violet. The chainguard also had a white background where the screening was making it stand out. The bike weighed in at 37 lbs.
The regular Sting Ray , or J-38 model, was the same as the Deluxe except it had a regular Solo Polo seat, no fenders, black tires, and a matching paint chainguard.
